The FLR Penguins had a great meet and the coaches are happy with how everyone is improving!

Wednesday, July 6th, EVENING MEET vs Observatory:

I am excited to try this out.  This will not look like a regular meet. We have trimmed some of the longer events and added some non-standard fun events.

FLR swimmers, please arrive to the pool by 4:45 pm. Toes are in the water at 5 pm for warm-ups. We will start the meet at 5:30 pm and plan to finish around 8 pm.

The order of events for Wednesday's meet is as follows:

- Butterfly Relay (8&U swim 25's and 9&UP swim 50's)

- 25 Freestyle (all ages)

- 25 Breaststroke (all ages)

- 100 IM (all ages)

- Breaststroke Relay (8&U swim 25's and 9&UP swim 50's)

- 50 Freestyle (all ages)

- 25 Backstroke (all ages)

- 25 Butterfly (all ages)

- 100 Freestyle (all ages)

- T-Shirt Relay (all ages swim 50 yards)

The 7/6 Wednesday evening meet with Observatory neighborhood is now open!

Sign-ups will close on Monday 7/4 night at Midnight. To sign up for the Observatory meet: https://flr-penguins.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

Parents, please sign your kids up for 4 events. Yes, 4 individual events for this meet. We are swimming several shorter 25-yard races. Kids will swim 2 relays in this meet. Please remember to opt-in for early and late availability on the relays. We estimate that the T-Shirt relay would start around 7:40 pm. Any kids who are available for the T-Shirt relay will be put in this event (as best we can with the number of swimmers available to create a relay). Then coaches will select the 2nd relay kids will swim, either butterfly or breaststroke (again, as best we can with the number of swimmers available).

Wednesday Evening Volunteers:

I need two more kid wranglers for this meet.    For this meet we have the FLR HOA board's approval to invite the entire neighborhood.   The plan is the grill will be fired up and we will be selling concessions, hamburgers, chips, and a drink as a swim team fund raiser.   I may need some additional volunteers to pull this off.  If you see an opportunity to help at the swim meet please step up and help.   I think this is going to be a great way to showcase the swim team to the rest of the neighborhood and do a bit of fund raising.

Saturday July 9th (Only 3 days later): we are hosting:

The 7/9 Collindale & Miramont home meet sign-ups are also open! Sign-ups will close on Monday 7/7 night at Midnight. We will start the meet at 7:30 am and should be finished around 11 am. More info will go out next week about the Saturday home meet. Link to sign-up: https://flr-penguins.swimtopia.com/swim_meets

This last home meet is where I start to get volunteer burn out.   Especially since we are hosting two meets inside of three days.  There are still some open positions, please volunteer if you can.

City Meet:

Next, the City Meet is approaching and we have some information for you. Friday, July 22nd will be for kids 11 and Over. Saturday, July 23rd will be for 10 and Under.
