FAQ
1. Who can join our team? To be eligible to join our team, you must:
a. Be a resident of Fossil Lake Ranch.
b. Have a current FLR Pool Membership (Family or Individual. If individual, the membership must be in the swimmer’s name). This is a requirement of our FLR HOA, to protect our “private” pool status, and is not negotiable.
c. Be between the ages of 5 and 18, inclusive.
d. Must be "pool safe" without adult assistance in the water
e. Be able to swim freestyle and backstroke, 25 yards (one pool length) without stopping
2.How do I join?
a. When registration opens for the season follow on-line instructions
b. We offer a trial period for young, first year swimmers! If parents are not sure if a new swimmer is ready to thrive as a Penguin, please signup and give it a try.
i. If you decide that your youngster will not complete the season, please email me no later than the day before the first swim meet.
3. How do I volunteer? Each family needs to provide a volunteer to help conduct our home meets. Our team provides these options for volunteering (each family must provide one volunteer for at least one of the following roles; many families enjoy supporting the team and volunteer for more than one role!):
a. Volunteer to work a specific job at one of our two home meets.
b. Volunteer to be a Race Official (requires training session, plus officiating commitment).
c. Volunteer to help plan and execute our end-of-season picnic.
d. Pay a volunteer “buyout” fee, in the form of an additional $185 fee, payable when registering, if your family is not able to commit to volunteering this year. Note - just one payment per family is needed, regardless of number of swimmers.
4. How do I sign-up to help with our start-of-season time trials?
a. The start-of-season time trials are used by our coaching staff to establish baseline times for each swimmer for the different strokes.
b. This time trial will be held the first Friday of the season, from 7-9am, at our home pool.
i. We need timers for this time trial - please sign-up to help with timing if you can make it!
